126: Higher Education Advancement, Cultural Competency & Intellectual Property Rights

1.5 hours – Virtual

This session for Higher Education Faculty focuses on advancement within the tenure track, along with the avenues to do so, challenges and pitfalls to avoid, cross cultural competency, and faculty rights to ownership of teaching materials, work product and curricula. Cultural Competency is a set of congruent behaviors, attitudes, and policies that come together in a system, agency or among professionals enabling them to work effectively in cross-cultural situations. Many education professionals work with students who bring with them a set of beliefs, values and culture that impacts the teaching and learning environment and are often different than those of the education professional. This part of the session provides tools to effectively engage students for a more effective teaching and learning experience in a higher education setting.
